CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A 14-year-old Virginia girl preparing to have brain surgery in Cincinnati is donating nearly 4,000 toys to the children she will be spending the holidays with at Children's Hospital.

Savannah Day is from Troutville, Virginia. Over the summer, Savannah's doctors told her she would have to have brain surgery, and that she would still be in the hospital recovering on Christmas day.

Out of her and her sisters' desire to bring joy to the other patients who would be in the hospital on Christmas, the girls decided to have a toy drive. Their initial goal of receiving 500 toys to donate to the hospital was quickly passed with the help of their family, friends, community and national support.

People have donated nearly 4,000 toys to the girls' efforts. The toys were delivered on Tuesday, one  day before Savannah's brain surgery.
