Police warn Hamilton residents of utility scam

HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) -

The Hamilton Police Department is warning residents of a scam centering around city utility bills.

Authorities say citizens in Hamilton are receiving calls from people who portray themselves as employees of the City of Hamilton's Utilities Department. The scammers are advising citizens that they need to pay their delinquent utility bill or their utilities will be turned off.

Officers are advising citizens not to reveal any bank account information to someone who claims to be with the utility department.

Anyone with questions concerning their utility bill is asked to contact customer service at 513-785-7100.
