Bengals players volunteer at "Christmas Extravaganza"

NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - New Hope Christian Center (NHCC) distributed toys and gifts to children and their families today with the help of some Cincinnati Bengals players.

The "Christmas Extravaganza," an annual event of NHCC is an effort to support the needs of families during the Christmas holiday. Their goal was to donate 1,000 toys to children in the community.

Bengals Linebacker Emmanuel Lamur and Vincent Rey were on hand to volunteer at the extravaganza, which took place at the church.

"New Hope Christian Center has been a tremendous asset to the Northern Kentucky community especially during this holiday season," said Bengals Linebacker Emmanuel Lamur. "Giving back to this great community and to New Hope is a humble way for me to say thanks for all that has been given to me."

Located in Newport, NHCC has a membership over 300. New Hope's pastors Chuck Russell and his wife, Paula, started the church and its community outreach programs and services more than 35 years ago with 25 members. The church just completed its expansion doubling the size to meet an expected membership increase to 500 in 2014.
