GREENFIELD, OH (FOX19) - Greenfield Police stunned a suspected burglar after he reportedly broke into a home and stole money and opened Christmas presents.
The incident happened around 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of McClain Avenue in Greenfield, Ohio.
Police were notified of a suspicious male lurking outside of a residence. The occupant of the home was reportedly not home at the time.
Officers arriving on the scene found that glass had been broken out of the back door of the residence and a male suspect was inside. The suspect has been identified as 37-year-old Roy Perkins.
Officers went inside the residence and confronted Perkins. According to police reports, the suspect jumped out the window and fled on foot through back yards and across city streets with police in pursuit.
The chase ended in the 400 block of Spring Street where Perkins was cornered and came face-to-face with police.
Authorities say that Perkins was stunned with a taser after refusing to surrender. The suspect was taken into custody and is being held at the Greenfield city jail.
The homeowner advised police that money had been taken from the residence and Christmas presents had been opened. The stolen money was recovered near the scene of the arrest.
Perkins has been charged with burglary. His bond has been set at $150 thousand and he will appear in Highland County Court.
