CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Four individuals were injured, including a five-year-old child, following an accident on the Western Hills Viaduct Thursday morning.

The accident happened just before 9 a.m. Thursday morning.

Officers say that James Carter Jr., 20, was driving east on the top deck of Western Hills Viaduct when he lost control of his vehicle. Carter's vehicle went left of center and struck a westbound vehicle head on. Carter's vehicle then rolled over and came to rest on its side.

The westbound vehicle, a 2001 Toyota Camry, was driven by 42-year-old Jason Thomas.

A third vehicle traveling westbound struck Thomas' vehicle. The third vehicle was driven by 33-year-old Leslie Stockton.

Thomas was extricated from his vehicle by the Cincinnati Fire Department. He is listed in serious condition at UC Medical Center.

Carter was also extricated from his vehicle and transported to the hospital. He has was treated and released with minor injuries. The rear seat passenger of Carter's vehicle, a 5-year-old child, was taken to the hospital and released with minor injuries.

Stockton was treated at the scene and released with minor injuries.

Officers say that speed and impairment do not appear to be factors in the crash.

The Traffic Unit is continuing their investigation. Witnesses of the crash are asked to contact the Cincinnati Police Department's Traffic Unit at 513-352-2514.
