CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The OVI Task forces of Hamilton, Butler, Montgomery and Clark Counties are conducting an Operating a Vehicle Impaired (OVI) enforcement blitz this weekend.
Along with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the strike will occur along State Route 4 on Friday and Saturday. Ohio Investigative Units will have agents working in the same area during the blitz.
The task force says that other members not along the route will be working in their respective areas searching for impaired drivers.
Crash data shows that 2,505 crashed related to impaired driving have caused thousands of injuries and 62 deaths in Hamilton County from 2010-2012. The task force recognizes the increase in impaired driving the holiday season and offers these tips:
- Plan a safe way home before your festivities begin.
- Before drinking, designate a sober driver and give that person your car keys.
- If you're impaired then call a taxi or a sober friend to get you home safely.
- If you see an impaired driver, report it to police by calling 911, #677, or 1-800-GRAB-DUI.
