COVINGTON, KENTUCKY (FOX19) -
With heavy rain in the forecast this weekend, residents of Covington are worried about the threat of flooding.
Flooding issues have plagued the city in rainy weather and citizens are hoping city officials will do something about it.
Rachel Slattery of Covington had just moved in to her house last summer when rain brought major flooding to her neighborhood. Slattery said there was at least three inches of water in her home after that flood.
Officials are aware of the problem and are looking for the best ways to address it. Covington City Engineer Mike Yeager says there is no quick fix to the problem, but they're looking in to basin projects.
City infrastructure money will be put towards the issue, but Yeager expects it will be costly, saying: "We've had a lot of
hundred year events here recently, and these projects could, well, the
estimates came in early around $2 million just for the basins alone."
