CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A resident of Glendale reported a dog sleeping in a Nativity scene near the Village Square on Friday morning.

Upon arrival, Glendale officials found a pit bull in the nativity scene with injuries to his leg and eye. They were able to secure the dog in their office and put out a statement asking for help in finding out if the dog had an owner.

Village administrator Loretta Rokey said her first priority was getting the injured dog to a vet. A citizen loaned Rokey a cage for transport and took the dog Noah's Ark Animal Clinic where they offered to treat him without hesitation.

Two representatives from Cincinnati Pit Crew, a group dedicated finding responsible homes for abused, unwanted and stigmatized dogs, met Rokey at the veterinarian office. She said the pit bull was very compliant and showed no signs of aggression upon being taken from the cage and during his evaluation.

Rokey said she received offers of support from numerous Tri-State animal rescue organizations. The dog ultimately ended up with Cincinnati Pit Crew, where they will oversee his care and adoption. They have named him Gabriel.
