City Council Votes Down Police Changes

The Cincinnati Police Department won't be making changes suggested by two city council members.  John Cranley re-introduced a plan from two years ago that would add 75 police officers to the force.  Vice-Mayor Alicia Reece proposed re-instating the anti-gang unit and establishing a homicide task force.  Both votes failed at last night's council meeting.  Cincinnati's homicide rate is 28% higher this year than last.  A long list of Westwood and Price Hill residents complained about an increase in crime and a decrease in property values.
