A Miami University student will lead the 2013 United States National Junior Hockey Team in the World Junior Championship.

Riley Barber was voted team captain by his teammates on Sunday. Barber, a right wing at Miami University, will lead the team as the United States takes on the Czech Republic Thursday in Sweden.

The Ice Hockey World Championship, formerly known as the U20 World Championship, is an annual event organized by the International Ice Hockey Federation featuring the best players under 20-years-old from around the world.

Last year, The United States defeated defending champion Sweden to win their third title, their first since 2010. Barber contributed with three goals and three assists throughout the tournament.
