CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

New Year's Day consistently ranks among the year's most dangerous holidays for impaired driving.

In an effort to prevent drunk driving fatalities, MADD and AAA are teaming up to offer free cab rides to impaired party-goers.

Care Cab will be available 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31 through midnight on Wednesday January 1, providing 30 hours of free service.

The cab ride by Towne Taxi is free for callers, 21-years-old and over, in need of safe transportation from a public establishment to a private residence within the I-275 loop.

The phone line will be active beginning at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31st.

Care Cab, a joint effort between MADD and AAA, has provided more than 2000 rides to nearly 5300 passengers. Hamilton County Safe Communities is also a partner of the program.

To request a free cab during these hours, call 513-381-FREE (513-381-3733) to request service.
