Beyonce criticized for using shuttle clip in XO song

(FOX19) -

Singer Beyonce is being blasted this morning for an audio clip in her latest song.

The song uses audio from the space Shuttle Challenger just before it exploded.

The small clip of shuttle commander Steve Nesbitt has family members of the shuttle crew upset. NASA agreed with family by releasing a statement saying they're disappointed.

Moments after the audio was recorded, the challenger exploded, killing everyone on board.

Beyonce released a statement saying, "The song 'XO' was recorded with the sincerest intention to help heal those who lost loved ones and to remind us that unexpected things happen." She goes on to say that the clip from the challenger disaster was used so it's never forgotten.
