Bengals in the playoffs: Lots of heartbreak, few victories

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

The Bengals have a chance to do something on Sunday that the franchise hasn't achieved in more than 20 years.

The Bengals last won a playoff game on Jan. 6, 1991 at Riverfront Stadium. The Bengals defeated AFC Central Division rival Houston 41-14 in an AFC Wild Card Game.

A week later on Jan. 13 in Los Angeles, the Bengals lost to the Raiders 20-10 at the famed Los Angeles Coliseum.

During that 1990 season the Bengals posted a 9-7 record and won the AFC Central Division. The Bengals wouldn't win a division title or appear in a playoff game for another 15 seasons.

Overall the Bengals are 5-11 in the postseason with two Super Bowl appearances.

Thanks in large part to pro-football-reference.com, here's a look back at the Bengals' post season history.
