Residents removed from apartment after Forest Park fire

FOREST PARK, OH (FOX19) - Firefighters were called to an apartment fire in Forest Park this morning.

It happened on 706 Northland Blvd at the Northland Village Apartments around the time of 1:00 a.m.

Six town-homes in the apartment complex were forced from their homes. All the residents made it out of the structure safely.

Out of the six families, four were able to stay with family or friends and the two other families were put in a local motel with the assistance of Northland Village.

On their arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke pushing from the front of the structure with no flames visible.

After expedient investigation, firefighters found heavy fire in the attic area. A second alarm was eventually requested from the Hamilton County Dispatch.

The fire quickly spread through the attic area. The attempt to put down the fire was hampered by high winds and cold weather.

The Forest Park Fire Department was assisted by the Springdale, Glendale, Colerain Township, Woodlawn, Wyoming, Greenhills, Sharonville, Lockland, Springfield Township, Reading and West Chester Fire Departments.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and a damage amount has not been determined.

Forest Park Fire Department suffered one minor injury because of a slip on the ice.
