Current weather too cold for pets

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Local animal shelters are urging the community to keep their pets inside during the recent arctic blast.

One neighbor was upset when she noticed some Boone County horses spending the whole day outside. However, not all animals are legally required shelter in these conditions.

Experts tell FOX19 that it's common sense to care of your animals. "Anytime the National Weather Service issues any kind of advisory they must bring their animals inside. There is no if, ands, or buts," says Kenton County Animal Shelter's Dan Evans.

Evans says if you leave any animals outside and unattended, they will take your pet and you could face time behind bars.
