BELLEVUE, KY (FOX19) -

One of the biggest Special Olympics fundraisers will return to Bellevue February 7: The 2015 Kentucky-Ohio Polar Plunge.

FOX19 NOW's Denise Johnson will be hosting and participating in the event. She is raising money for the cause and all donations will go towards providing life-changing sports training and competition opportunities for Special Olympic participants. Click here to help Denise reach her goal.

The Polar Plunge works just like a Walk-a-Thon, but instead of walking, participants take a chilly dip into a pool that will be set up in the parking lot of Joe's Crab Shack.

Each "Polar Bear" participant can raise donations to take part, which is a minimum of $75 or $50 minimum for Junior Plungers, ages 6-18.

You can plunge on your own or with a group of friends. There will be prizes for the largest groups and top fundraisers. One lucky Polar Bear could also win a vacation!

Last year, the event set records for participants and dollars raised, as 885 people hit the pool, raising more than $181,000 for Special Olympics Programs in Kentucky and Ohio.

Join Denise Johnson and get freezin' for a reason. You can sign up here: http://soky.kintera.org/faf/home/default.asp?ievent=1090641
