KENTUCKY (FOX19) -

The Kentucky Derby festival will announce their 2014 Royal Court today.

Over 100 applicants applied to be one of the five princesses who act as the Kentucky Derby's official ambassadors.

The five young women selected represent the Kentucky Derby Festival and the city of Louisville as official ambassadors for the springtime tradition of the Festival.

Candidates for the Princess Program must maintain a minimum 3.0 grade point average and are selected by a panel of three out-of-state judges.

Over the two-week period, they attend nearly 70 events. The women also get a $2,000 scholarship.
