Judge appointed to hear Tracie Hunter's cases

COLUMBUS, OH (FOX19) - The Ohio Supreme Court has assigned retired and former Hamilton County Juvenile Court Judge Thomas Lipps to hear cases for indicted Judge Tracie Hunter.

Lipps' appointment started Friday and lasts until April 10.

A Hamilton County grand jury on Friday indicted Hunter on eight charges.

The charges are two counts of tampering with evidence, two counts of forgery, two counts of having an unlawful interest in a public contract and two counts of theft in office.

Hunter is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Hamilton County Common Pleas Court.

Lipps presided over the Steubenville rape trial in March 2013.

Hunter is the first African-American juvenile court judge in Hamilton County.
