Government recommends new safety inspections for Sizzler ride after fatal accident
The government is urging states to temporarily shut down an amusement park ride called the Sizzler. The ride rotates clockwise while its three four-seat sections turn counterclockwise. The recommendation follows a fatal accident last month in Massachusetts at a church fair. A 38-year-old man was killed after a seat on the ride came apart. Inspectors found two faulty bolts. One had been modified and the other wasn't the proper size. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is calling for new inspections on all Sizzler and Deluxe Sizzler rides.
