It's Her 'Prerogative'

Oops, she's doing it again. No, not yet another wedding -- Britney Spears has announced she's taking another break from her career. In a "letter of truth" posted on her official website, the 22-year-old pop star writes, "Going and going and going is all I've ever known since I was 15 years old. It's amazing what advisors will push you to do, even if it means taking a naive, young blonde girl and putting her on the cover of every magazine."

What prompted the move away from the spotlight this time? Spears says the knee injury she suffered this summer -- which forced the cancellation of her Onyx Hotel Tour -- marked a turning point: "I know now that my knee gave out on me this past summer so that I would have no choice but to stop. My body was shutting down and needed rest. It's funny how the man upstairs works."

She's planning on using all that newfound down time to start a family with husband Kevin Federline and catching up on movies and TV repeats: "I really want to watch 'Saved' with Mandy Moore and reruns of 'Sex and the City.'"

It may not be a long sabbatical: her greatest hits CD, "Greatest Hits: My Prerogative," arrives in stores November 9th. Will she get out and promote it? For the time being, "My prerogative right now is to just chill and let all of the other over-exposed blondes on the cover of Us Weekly be your entertainment... GOOD LUCK GIRLS!"
