With two states legalizing marijuana in the past year, the industry of cannabis has become a national conversation topic. One organization is even promoting jobs in the cannabis industry in states where the herb is not legalized, and they made a stop today in northern Kentucky.
Budding cannabis entrepreneurs attended the Cannabis Career Institute at the Comfort Suite in Hebron, an event that featured job and business opportunities revolving around marijuana.
The Cannabis Career Institute (CCI) is on a nationwide tour promoting what they say is a "growth industry within our sluggish economy." The event featured medical marijuana dispensary managers, lawyers, doctors and grow experts dishing out advice and networking with people interested in the field.
The event also had a seminar on growing hemp, a skill that CCI representatives say will greatly affect Ohio and Kentucky's future.
Possession of, sale of, and growing marijuana are illegal in Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana. Colorado and Washington are the only two states where marijuana is legalized.
