READING, OH (FOX19) - The IGA grocery store in Reading closed for good on Sunday after being in business since 1998.
Owner Steve Goessling says his business could not keep up with the six other large chain grocery stores within a few miles of the IGA.
"I have been told, and I believe it's true, that in the past 10 years there are 50,000 fewer of this type of business in the United States," Goessling explained.
He also cited the poor economy as another reason for closing the doors.
There are still two years left on Goessling's lease, and he says he plans to get a new tenant in the building soon.
