Report finds three Ohio cities in midst of bed bug crisis

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - Cincinnati, along with two other Ohio cities, has been named as one of the top cities in the United States for bed bugs.

State Rep. Dale Mallory (D-Cincinnati) announced Wednesday that more work needs to be done to help combat Ohio's bed bugs epidemic.

In a recent study conducted by the Orkin pest control company, three cities in Ohio were ranked in the top ten list of places with the most bed bugs infestations.

Those cities include:

  • Columbus (3rd)
  • Cincinnati (5th)
  • and the Cleveland/Akron/Canton metropolitan area (6th).

"The Joint Bed Bugs Task Force has done a good job helping the people of Cincinnati fight Ohio's bed bug epidemic," Mallory said. "The hard work of the men and women who have contributed their time and effort to this cause should be commended. However, there is still much work left to be done."

Mallory plans on convening a town hall meeting of the Joint Bed Bugs Task Force in February.
