Family and friends will be honoring the life of a local hero this weekend as Sgt. Daniel Lee's body will be returning home to Fort Wright.

Lee died Jan. 15 at the age of 28 after enemy forces in Afghanistan attacked his unit. The 2003 Dixie Heights graduate had been deployed since September as a Green Beret in the Army Special Forces.

Lee's body arrived at St. Agnes Church in Fort Wright this morning, where a visitation will be held tonight from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Mass will be held at St. Agnes tomorrow at 10 a.m. followed by a burial at Covington's Mother of God Cemetery.

Army officials say Lee's family will be awarded his Purple Heart. He is survived by his parents, wife and 6-month-old son.
