Snow emergencies issued throughout the Tri-State

Winter Weather Advisory is issued for the Tri-State from 9 p.m. Friday until 7 p.m. Saturday.

The following areas are under a snow emergency:

Indiana:

  • RIPLEY COUNTY - LEVEL ORANGE SNOW EMERGENCY

Kentucky:

  • CITY OF INDEPENDENCE - SNOW EMERGENCY
  • CAMPBELL COUNTY - LEVEL 2 TRAVEL ADVISORY
  • CITY OF FORT WRIGHT, KY - SNOW EMERGENCY 
  • BOONE COUNTY - LEVEL 1 SNOW EMERGENCY
  • FORT MITCHELL - SNOW EMERGENCY
Ohio:
  • BROWN COUNTY - LEVEL 1 SNOW EMERGENCY
  • BUTLER COUNTY - LEVEL 1 SNOW EMERGENC
  • BRACKEN COUNTY - LEVEL 1 SNOW EMERGENCY
  • CITY OF SPRINGDALE - LEVEL 2 SNOW EMERGENCY
  • CLINTON COUNTY - LEVEL 2 SNOW EMERGENCY
  • CITY OF FOREST PARK - LEVEL 2 SNOW EMERGENCY
According to the State of Ohio, Snow Emergencies have three classifications and are defined as follows:

LEVEL 1: Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be icy. Motorists are urged to drive very cautiously.

LEVEL 2: Roadways are hazardous with blowing and drifting snow. Roads may also be very icy. Only those who feel it is necessary to drive should be out on the roads. Contact your employer to see if you should report to work. Motorists should use extreme caution.

LEVEL 3: All roadways are closed to non-emergency personnel. No one should be driving during these conditions unless it is absolutely necessary to travel or a personal emergency exists. All employees should contact their employer to see if they should report to work. Those traveling on the roads may subject themselves to arrest.
