MIDDLETOWN, OH (FOX19) - NTE Energy, a Florida-based energy firm, has revealed plans to build a natural gas plant in Butler County representing an investment of over $500 million.
The company has plans to construct, own and operate a natural gas electric generating facility in Middletown.
The company states that the new project, known as the Middletown Energy Center, will employ Mitsubishi advanced turbine technology in a combined cycle configuration, utilizing the exhaust heat of the gas turbine to produce steam to generate additional energy in a steam turbine generator.
NTE Energy also states that when the project is operational, the Middletown Energy Center will supply the power needs of approximately 400 thousand homes and represent an investment of over $500 million.
The company also states that the project will create 300-400 jobs during construction and employ 25-30 individuals during operation.
NTE Energy is expected to break ground on the project in early 2015. The commercial operation date is scheduled for early to mid 2018.
