Family dogs die in overnight Florence fire

FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) - Emergency crews battled a fire early Thursday morning in Florence that killed two family dogs.

It was reported in the 100 block of Melinda Lane. Upon arrival, firefighters found an "out-building" heavily involved in fire. Authorities said the building was being used as a living space for two people and their dogs.

Crews were quickly able to bring the fire under control despite the frigid temperatures, authorities said.

One person was injured in the fire and taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with unknown injuries. Authorities said two dogs died in the fire.

The building was a total loss, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
