FLAGSTAFF, AZ (CBS5) -

Two men face possible first-degree attempted murder charges after a 19-year-old Flagstaff man was stabbed several times Tuesday.

Garrett McCabe, 18, and Christian Cordova, 19, both of the Flagstaff area, were arrested and booked into the Coconino County Jail, said Gerald Blair of the Coconino County Sheriff's Office.

The victim's mother told deputies her son had told her McCabe and another man, later identified as Cordova, arranged to meet him near his home, drove him to a forested area and McCabe stabbed him multiple times with a knife.

They drove the victim to McCabe's residence and tried to bandage his wounds. They eventually left him near his home, where he walked to his house and was taken to a medical center in Winslow by a family member about 6:20 p.m., Blair said.

The victim suffered stab wounds to his shoulder and back, Blair said.

Deputies found a small trail of blood on the driveway and on a handrail at McCabe's residence, Blair said, but no one answered repeated knocks on the door.

A man who said he owned the home and was a relative of McCabe, let the deputies into the house, where they found more blood and McCabe asleep in a bedroom.

McCabe was taken to the sheriff's office for questioning and was arrested.

The victim also told his mother that during the attack, he believed Cordova chased him with a hatchet.

Detectives found and interviewed Cordova while he was working in Flagstaff on Wednesday, and he was taken into custody.

Both were being held in the Coconino County Sheriff's Detention Facility.
