NEW YORK (RNN) -The FBI announced a LaGuardia Airport terminal had been cleared of danger Tuesday following the report of a suspicious bag.
"All clear at LaGuardia Airport following earlier reports of a suspicious package," the FBI New York office tweeted.
MSA Security stated a baggage handler became concerned about a bag that "seemed warm" in Terminal C.
"Neither the bag nor its owner entered the plane, Delta Airlines Flight 5208, which is set to proceed to its original destination," MSA's release stated.
NBC4 reported a Delta flight was called back to its gate. Authorities cleared the terminal to investigate the item.
"Airport officials are making us walk farther and farther from Terminal C at LaGuardia airport. #freezing," Dionna Widder wrote on Twitter.
Several people seen in the evacuation area wore Denver Broncos or Seattle Seahawks apparel. The two teams played in nearby East Rutherford, NJ, in Super Bowl XLVIII on Sunday.
LaGuardia has been operated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, under a lease with the City of New York, since June 1, 1947. It is located in the borough of Queens, about 8 miles from midtown Manhattan.
About 25 million passengers use the airport every year, and approximately 11,000 people work there.
On July 22, 2013, Southwest Airlines Flight 345, originating from Nashville International Airport, had its nose landing gear collapsed as the aircraft touched down onto runway 4 at LaGuardia. Of 150 people aboard, six passengers and five crew members suffered injuries.
