The UC Board of Trustees and school president have been discussing a contract extension with head basketball coach Mick Cronin, a source confirmed late Monday night.
Cronin is in his 8th year as head coach of his alma mater and has taken the Bearcats to the NCAA tournament three consecutive years and is poised for a fourth.
The university recently changed athletic directors with Whit Babcock leaving for the same position at Virginia Tech and the hiring of Mike Bohn.
The board and president would need to be heavily involved in the process to help make this kind of extension happen during the transition.
Cronin's current contract runs through the 2018 season.
