Cars becoming less dependable, study shows

CINCINNATI (FOX19/CNN) - It's not your imagination. A new report says some of the cars on the road today are markedly less dependable.

J.D. Power and Associates says the number of problems with cars, trucks and SUVs has increased 6 percent since last year.

Among the vehicles that fared the worst in the study:

  • BMW's Mini – It had the poorest showing in the survey with drivers reporting 185 problems per 100 vehicles.
  • Fiat Chrysler's Dodge brand
  • Land Rover
  • Hyundai

However, there were some vehicles that J.D. Power and Associates found are dependable. Among those:

  • Lexus – Most dependable with 68 problems for every 100 vehicles.
  • Mercedes-Benz
  • General Motors' Cadillac brand
  • Honda's Acura
  • Buick

Customer loyalty is crucial for auto companies. But this survey found that people really lost their loyalty to a car brand if they had a problem with their own vehicle.
