Man indicted for murder of high school track star

(FOX19) - Damon Kirkendall has been indicted for the murder of 19-year-old Vincent Turnage. Turnage, a track athlete at Mount Healthy High School, was gunned down during a home invasion on November 17.

Kirkendall broke in to a Springfield Township home Turnage was at and ordered the six residents to get inside a room, according to Police Lt. Brian Uhl. Turnage was shot when he tried to escape the home.

Kirkendall, who is from Fairfield, has been indicted on charges including Aggravated Murder, five counts of kidnapping and Aggravated Robbery.

The indictment comes nearly a week after friends and family gathered for a vigil in memory of Turnage. The vigil for Turnage, who holds the 200 meter dash at Mount Healthy High School, was held at Spring Grove Cemetery on his birthday, February 6.
