Raceland man struck and killed while walking on LA 1

RACELAND, LA (WVUE) - A pedestrian was struck and killed trying to cross LA 1 last night.

Candy Baudoin of Lockport was driving north on LA 1 when 55-year-old Kenneth Hughes attempted to cross the street as she approached. Hughes was struck and killed and Baudoin was not injured because she was wearing her seatbelt.

Hughes was wearing dark clothing and walking in a dimly lit area. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor, though toxicology tests are still pending. Baudoin was tested on the scene and cleared of any alcohol involvement.

This crash remains under investigation.

Motorists that witness hazardous situations are urged to call *LSP (*577) and report that activity to the Louisiana State Police.
