One person is injured after a train hit a vehicle Sunday evening in Erlanger.
According to officials, the train collided with a pickup truck at the Dixie Highway and Stevenson Road crossing around 8 p.m. Police say a male was driving the truck with no passengers.
Loretta Morgan, who was sitting on the opposite side of the train crossing when the incident happened, said the scene was heart-wrenching.
According to Morgan, the bars at the crossing were beginning to come down, indicating a train was coming and signaling drivers to stop. She said the truck then zig-zagged it's way through the bars and stopped in the middle of the tracks.
"He's (the conductor) blowing his horn, the brakes are screaming and then he just slammed in to the truck. Glass started flying," Morgan described.
Morgan said the car was then pushed far down the tracks. Officials indicate it stopped a quarter mile away from where it was hit.
The victim is being transferred University of Cincinnati Medical Center and the extent of his injuries is not known at this time.
Authorities have not commented on the nature of the incident.
