Police search for suspects after brawl, shooting downtown

Two people were shot and four people were detained after what started with a night club brawl early Sunday morning.

Police were called out to a disturbance at Dosha night club on Broughton Street around 1:00 a.m. Sunday morning. While investigating the fight inside, police say a 25-year-old male and a 19-year-old female were shot.

"And those two people were taken to the hospital, and are being treated for non-life threatening injuries," said Julian Miller, Spokesperson for Metro Police.

Shortly after that, more shots rang out in Reynolds Square.

"Really dangerous," said one witness. "I don't even hang out down here."

She was inside the Dosha celebrating a friend's birthday when, she says, two girls started fighting.

"It was broken bottles and everything. Police officers came and said the club was over with," said the witness.

When police went to investigate the shooting in the square, they detained four men who were inside a car parked at the square. At this time, investigators are not sure if the four men had anything to do with either of the two shootings, or the fight. Police used a Taser on one of the men.

Police are not sure if the two shootings were related.

Businesses and restaurants in the downtown area said if violence like this continues, it will turn away customers.

"We've got regular guests that come and walk through these streets on a regular basis and tourism is a livelyhood for us, and a lot of people in the downtown area and I would rather it get under control now than later," said Tony Rossing, General Manager of Circa 1875.

Detectives continue to investigate the shootings and whether they are related to either the fight or the shots fired call.
