Vehicle flips and catches fire near NKU, woman in critical condition

(FOX19) - A 77-year-old woman is in critical condition after her vehicle flipped and caught fire on westbound I-275.

The accident happened just before 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon near Three Mile Road.

Officers say the vehicle was heading westbound on the highway when it struck a guardrail. Authorities say the vehicle drove through the median and off the overpass onto Three Mile Road.

Police say the vehicle landed on its top and the vehicle engine caught fire.

The driver, identified as a 77-year-old female from Cincinnati, was unconscious upon arrival. Witnesses and police say they were able to pull the woman out of the vehicle. The victim was later transported to St. Elizabeth Fort Thomas Hospital with critical injuries.

The victim's name is being withheld pending family notification. FOX19 will continue to update the story as details become available.
