LATONIA, KY (FOX19) - Kenton County Police arrested a woman Wednesday in connection with finding two children, several adults, 13 dogs and numerous cats living in what police called "deplorable conditions" at a Latonia Lakes residence.

Police charged Christina Kurtz, 29, of Latonia Lakes, with second degree criminal abuse. Police said more criminal charges are likely in the case.

Kenton County Police said they responded to the 400 block of Walnut Road to assist state corrections officers in finding a wanted person. Instead of finding that suspect, officers found the two children and an elderly woman along with five other adults, the dogs and the cats.

Police said floors and furniture were littered with animal urine and feces. The woman, 89, was unable to move on her own. She was in a bed with urine and feces. The woman and the children had not yet eaten Wednesday.

An ambulance took the woman to St. Elizabeth Edgewood. The children were removed from the home.

Kenton County Animal Control is investigating animal-related charges, police said.
