COVINGTON, KENTUCKY (FOX19) - Fire crews say a woman's pets were pulled out of a burning home in Covington on Thursday afternoon.
The fire broke out around 5:15 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of West 6th Street in Covington, Ky.
Crews arriving on the scene reported flames and smoke pouring from the front of the building. Further investigation revealed fire in the attic and on the first floor of the building.
"There was no one home at the time of the fire," says Dan Mathew, chief of the Covington Fire Department. "There were a couple of animals. [The owner's] dogs were pulled out."
No one was injured in the blaze. Firefighters say that they can not estimate the extent of the damage at this time.
"There is some exterior damage due to the fire breaking through," adds Mathew. "We're investigating right now. Crews are in there doing some overhaul and salvage work, trying to save some of the belongings if we can."
