Our predictions for the 2014 Academy Awards

(FOX19) - This morning on the FOX19 Morning News, FOX19's Jessica Brown and I discussed the nominees for the 86th annual Academy Awards!

Here are our predictions:

Best Picture Nominees:

There were so many great films for the year of the 2014. I think it's going to be a close call!

Personally, I think Wolf of Wall Street is going to take home the award this year. The film, directed by Martin Scorsese, stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill and Margot Robbie.

Fun fact: Most of the actors improvised in this film!

Best Actress Nominees:

There were so many powerful female actresses nominated this year. Again, going to be a close call!

I think that audiences will say it's between Amy Adams in American Hustle or Sandra Bullock in Gravity.

However, I think it should really be handed to Cate Blanchett for her role in Blue Jasmine.

The film, directed by the talented Woody Allen, tells the story of a New York socialite who loses everything and has a complete mental breakdown.

Blanchett already won a Golden Globe for her performance in this film so I think she has a good chance of winning again!

Best Actor Nominees:

I think it's really between Leonardo DiCaprio in Wolf of Wall Street or Matthew McConaughey in Dallas Buyers Club.

The winner? I'm going to throw it to Matthew McConaughey.

McConaughey has really stepped into a different realm of acting this year. I think audiences will agree that his performance deserves some praise!

Hey, the guy lost 47 pound for the role!
