SYMMES TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Essee is safe after her family's Symmes Township home caught fire Tuesday morning.
The one-year-old Great Pyranees dog was at home alone after her family left around 8 a.m. on a trip. Within an hour, a neighbor called the family to tell them their Brentmoor Drive home was in flames.
The family returned and alerted firefighters that there beloved family pet was inside, likely in the sunroom where she played with toys. Crews found Essee unharmed but put her on oxygen to treat her for smoke inhalation using a specially-made oxygen mask for dogs and cats that had been donated to the fire department 2-3 years ago.
Essee was taken to a local veterinary for treatment but the family said she will be fine.
The fire was reported at 8:45 a.m. The cause is still under investigation.
