Western & Southern Open tickets on sale

MASON, OH (FOX19) -

Who is excited for tennis? Tickets for this summer's Western & Southern Open are now on sale.

Tickets for both Single Session and Full Series packages are now on sale. The tournament will be held August 9-17 at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.

Last year's tournament was a record-setter with 13 of 16 sessions recorded as sell outs. A record 187,183 tickets were sold bringing fans to Cincinnati from all 50 states and 30 different countries.

The tournament ended with 11 straight sell-out sessions. On Thursday, August 15, an all-time record attendance was set with 25,155 fans watching matches on-site, and the Wednesday, August 14 day session set an all-time session record for the tournament with 13,704 fans.

Defending Western & Southern Open champions Rafael Nadal, currently ranked #1 in the world, and Victoria Azarenka, the 2012 and 2013 winner of the Australian Open, will compete to retain their titles. Cincinnati is one of only five tennis events in the world, outside of the grand slams, where the top-ranked men and women in the sport play at the same venue in the same week.

In a change of format for 2014, Semifinal Saturday will differ from the usual schedule. Those accustomed to men's matches in the day and women at night should note that 2014 will feature one men's and one women's match each session on Saturday, August 16.
