Artist Nickolay Lamm believes some dolls should have the proportions of a real woman, and instead of waiting around for big toy companies to make those alterations, he wants to do it himself.

Lamm used Photoshop last summer to show what Barbie would look like if she had the measurements of an average 19-year-old woman's body, based on the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The positive response he received was overwhelming.

"A lot of kids and parents were asking me, 'Where can we buy a doll like this?'" Lamm says in video he posted to YouTube. "Ever since that project I've been working really hard to make it a reality."

He developed a fashion doll line called Lammily that reflects typical body proportions. The tagline reads "Average is beautiful." Lamm launched his own Kickstarter on Wednesday to raise $95,000 for production of the doll.

The Lammily doll wears minimal makeup and promotes a healthy lifestyle. Its advanced design allows the dolls to move her wrists, knees, elbows and feet.

And it might not be long before you see the doll on store shelves. Former Mattel Vice President of Manufacturing Robert Rambeau is helping Lamm find highly qualified manufacturers to make the doll, according to Lammily's website.
