MORROW, OH (FOX19) -

A local Marine is dead after a shooting in southern California on Sunday evening.

Police say that 26-year-old Steven Kohus, of Morrow, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene in Twentynine Palms, Calif.

Officers say that Kohus, a graduate of Little Miami High School, was shot in the 7300 block of Saladin Avenue just after 9:20 p.m. Sunday.

The suspect, Brock Myers, was arrested without incident. He was transported and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail for murder.

While investigators continue to look in to the case, Kohus's body on Saturday was returned to Loveland. Locals, police, firefighters and veterans lined the processional route to pay their respects as the body was transported from CVG to Tufts Shildmeyer Funeral Home.

A visitation will be held at Tufts Shildmeyer Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 11 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. A mass will follow the next day at St. Columban Church at 10:30 a.m.
