Police chase ends with crash in Mt. Healthy, 2 suspects arrested

MT. HEALTHY, OH (FOX19) - Two men have been arrested following a police chase in Mt. Healthy on Friday afternoon. Witnesses say that a small business owner tackled one of the suspects as he fled the scene of a crash.

Officers say they were driving down Hamilton Avenue when the spotted what appeared to be a stolen vehicle. As officers activated emergency lights, the suspect vehicle fled the scene.

"During the time that the vehicle was attempting to get away from the officer, there was a gun seen by my officer," explains Officer Marc Waldeck.

Police say the car turned around during the chase, coming back up Hamilton Avenue. Authorities say the car crashed into a telephone pole at Hamilton and Adams.

Police apprehended one suspect following the crash. Officers say that a second suspect fled on foot.

Fernan Jones works at a nearby business. Jones says that the quick actions of his boss helped police capture the fleeing suspect.

"My boss ended up tackling him a little up the street here," explains Jones. "He tackled him to the ground and the police got him."

Authorities say both suspects were taken to the hospital where they were treated for injuries sustained in the crash. Their condition is unknown at this time.

At this time, police have not released the names of those involved. FOX19 will update the story as details become available.
