The Bengals Saturday re-signed Guard Mike Pollak. His contract had been set to expire, and without a new deal he would have become an unrestricted free agent as of Tuesday.

Pollak, of Arizona State, is a seventh-year NFL player, in his second season with the Bengals. He joined the Bengals last season. He was inactive for much of the early season due to a preseason knee injury, but played in eight of the last nine games, with five starts at RG. He also played in the team's Wild Card playoff game.

The team allowed no sacks in his first three starts and averaged 159.5 rushing yards in the last two of those games.

He has 69 career NFL games played with 46 starts (including postseason), having spent most of his career with Indianapolis.

"Very simply, we are just glad to have Mike back," said Paul Alexander, Bengals assistant head coach/offensive line coach.

"He's a veteran you can count on. When some injuries provided him an opportunity last year, he came through with flying colors for us."
