LOUISVILLE, KY (WAVE) - A Louisville wife who hasn't seen her husband in months, wanted to make sure her hero saw how much she missed him.

JonVieve Hill reached out to her neighbors along Edgeland Avenue to welcome home her husband, Captain Charley Hill.

"Sparked the idea of doing something that Charley could see on our way home from the homecoming ceremony," said Hill.

Charley has been in Afghanistan for the past nine months and he's finally home.  JonVieve wanted to do something special so, she gave everyone in her neighborhood a letter asking them to honor her husband and his fellow soldiers by lighting up their neighborhood. She supplied everyone with a luminary bag and tea light candle.

"So I thought this would be a fun way to pull in the community not everyone has somebody that is deployed," said JonVieve HIll.

The simple gesture of love and support caught Charley by surprise.

"We came outside to have a glass of wine and saw the bags and was like what's with the bags and I just caught on," said Charley HIll. "It was very big shock."

A candle was eventually lit on their porch. A hero home with a wife who couldn't be happier.

"She never fails to amaze me," said Charley Hill.

The Hill's said they planned on taking a walk around their neighborhood to see all of the candles lit up for them.
