COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) -

Cincinnati restaurateur Jeff Ruby and staff have applied for a permit from the Army Corps of Engineers to begin dredging the river as part of a depth study at Covington Landing.

The depth study will help provide information about where best to place the new Jeff Ruby's Waterfront restaurant at Covington Landing.

The Ruby family said last Friday that the restaurant will re-open and move back to the banks of Covington by early 2015.

The restaurant went adrift on Feb.  6 prompting the U.S. Coast Guard to come to the scene to secure the boat. With the help of Duke Energy, they towed the boat down river last Friday where it reportedly was go to a dry dock in Hebron.

Located along Covington's riverfront, the Waterfront previously broke loose from its moorings in March 2011.
