HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) - Firefighters battled two separate house fires Thursday night and Friday morning in Hamilton.

The first fire happened Thursday night on Parkamo Avenue. Crews arrived to the scene around 8:45 p.m. to find a single story home on fire, with the blaze moving to adjacent homes.

Authorities say the two occupants are very lucky to have managed to escape the home. One of the occupants suffered burns and two family dogs perished in the fire.

Hamilton Deputy Chief Gassert said crews had to use aggressive tactics to fight the fire and keep other homes from burning as well.

Damage estimates are not yet available, but the house is expected to be a total loss.

The second fire happened around 1 a.m. Friday on South Front Street. The fire building and adjacent apartments were evacuated.

Officials say damage was kept to a minimum and no one was injured.

Three residents were displaced and Red Cross was brought in for assistance.

The cause of both fires is under investigation.
