Guinness drops out of NYC St. Patrick's Day Parade over anti-LGBT policy

More than a million people were expected to pack the streets of New York City Monday for the city's annual St. Patrick's Day Parade with one exception: Guinness.

Guinness announced Sunday it's yanking its sponsorship of the annual NYC parade because gay and lesbian groups aren't allowed to march openly.

"Guinness has a strong history of supporting diversity and being an advocate for equality for all," the company said in a statement. "We were hopeful that the policy of exclusion would be reversed for this year's parade. As this has not come to pass, Guinness has withdrawn its participation. We will continue to work with community leaders to ensure that future parades have an inclusionary policy."

This came days after Heineken said it too was pulling its support, as well as Sam Adams in Boston. Boston Mayor Marty Walsh boycotted his city's annual parade on Sunday, and New York Mayor Bill De Blasio announced he was skipping the parade on Monday.

5 Glorious Guinness facts

-Although Guinness appears to be black, the company claims it's actually a dark shade of ruby.

-There's a 9000 year lease on the Guinness brewery in Dublin, which was signed in 1759.

Guinness isn't vegetarian/vegan as it can contain trace amounts of fish bladder called Isinglass.

-A perfect pint should take 119.53 seconds to pour. It's poured in a two parts in order to enable the pint to have the right amount of head. Three quarters of the pint is poured at a 45 degree angle, the surge allowed to completely settle, before the last quarter is added at a 180 degree angle.

-Before 1939, if a Guinness brewer wished to marry a Catholic, his resignation was requested.

Local guys rap about love for Skyline Chili

When the Skyline craving hits, it's hard to ignore. Patrick Holcomb (P-Heezy) and Josh Cockerham (JC) of Goshen made a music video about the Cincinnati favorite.

They order a 3-way and say "it's the best thing since country fried steak." And don't forget the oysters and "ice cold Dew."
