Internet rallies for boy banned from wearing "My Little Pony" lunchbox

In need of a new lunchbox and a fan of the animated TV program, My Little Pony, 9-year-old Grayson Bruce picked a bag with the character "Rainbow Dash" on the front.

The decades-old franchise's current incarnation is My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, in which the pony characters emphasize the importance of friendship. However, bullies at school have targeted him because they think it's a toy for girls.

"Taking it a little too far, with punching me, pushing me down, calling me horrible names, stuff that really shouldn't happen," Grayson told WLOS-TV.

His North Carolina school's solution was to ban Grayson from bring the bag to school, claiming it had become a distraction and was a "trigger for bullying," according to WLOS-TV.

The school district's website states: "Buncombe County Schools strives to foster a climate of respect and personal responsibility among students, and does not tolerate bullying in any form."

Plenty across the country, however, are standing with Grayson online. A Facebook page called "Support for Grayson" has nearly 50,000 likes. The family also issued a Change.org petition to allow Grayson to wear his backpack and crack down on bullying.

Glenn Beck even has My Little Pony stuffed animals and his desk and created a hashtag in support the 9-year-old.
